Come learn how you can be indispensable to your organization when disaster happens! Hurricane, tornado, wildfire, flood, bird flu or earthquake: it’s no longer “if," but "when.” Speakers will share lessons learned by affected libraries and information centers, as well as guidelines for effective disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. They'll also discuss ways social media is used (including specific tools), why it’s important, and the ways in which we can support and undertake social media efforts ourselves during a disaster. Participants will break into groups to run through a few table-top disaster simulations and consider how leading customized versions of this exercise back home can contribute to their and their employers' resiliency.
